JEFF KOONS IN FLORENCE

At Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, an exhibition of one of the favourite artists of our patrons who sometimes collect his works.

Until 30 January 2022 Palazzo Strozzi is hosting a major exhibition dedicated to Jeff Koons, one of the most important and celebrated world figures in contemporary art. The exhibition presents a selection of the most interesting works by an artist who, from the mid-1970s to the present day, has made his mark on the international art market, taking his own path.
And it is precisely pop-art that the artist refers to, Andy Warhol’s pop-art of which he seems to be the heir, that current originating from one of the most extreme and original avant-garde art styles of the 20th century: the Dadaist movement identified with Marcel Duchamp, from which Koons takes the concept of Ready-made, that is, the use of an ordinary object proposed and exhibited as a work of art, without intervention by the artist.

It is precisely developed in close dialogue with the artist, the Florentine exhibition on Jeff Koons which takes the name of Shine, “glow”, hosting contributions from the most important collections and major international museums.

Shine is understood as a game of ambiguity between splendour and glow, being and appearing. Perhaps also as “double” or past and present.
Probably some of our clients are already admirers and collectors of Koons. This is why we felt it was necessary to mention it.
